Cyprus
Map of Cyprus - Paphos is situated in the south-west of the island
The island of Cyprus has long been established as a sophisticated holiday destination - a landscape of citrus and olive groves, pine forests, mountains and some of Europe's cleanest beaches. The legendary birthplace of Aphrodite the Goddess of Love.
Cyprus has golden beaches and warm clear seas, a glorious climate at any time of the year - 350 days of sunshine per year and virtually no rainfall between April and November.
In Cyprus the past lives side by side with the present - there are a host of archaeological sites to visit, including ancient theatres and castles, Greek temples and Byzantine churches, or if your tastes are more modern, there are golf courses, waterparks, all manner of watersports including sub aqua diving, golden sandy beaches, walking in the mountains, ski-ing in the winter and a good night life.
Driving is easy in Cyprus as they drive on the left, and the electrical sockets are 3 pin. Most Cypriots in the larger towns speak excellent English, and there is very little crime on the island. Currency is now the euro.
Once visited - you will want to return.
